International Maritime Organization bestows bravery award on Bulgarian sailor

Bulgarian sailor Eduard Tavityan has been awarded the International Maritime Organization’s award for exceptional bravery.

On 9 October, 2019, Euard Tavityan, engineer on board a ferryboat, dived into the stormy ocean to rescue a passenger who had fallen overboard.

In a letter to the Maritime Administration Executive Agency, IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim expresses gratitude to the Bulgarian government for the deserving nomination for the organization’s annual awards, BGNES writes.
