At the end of October, Bulgaria's gross external debt amounted to EUR 37.326 billion, or 65.8% of the country's GDP. The debt increased by EUR 2.148 billion or 6.1% as compared to the end of 2019, the Bulgarian National Bank announced. Intercompany lending rose by EUR 1.12 billion as compared to the end of 2019 to EUR 14.968 billion.
The debt of “General Government” sector amounted to EUR 7.47 billion. It increased by EUR 2.043 billion or 37.6% as compared to the end of 2019 which is due to the new government bonds issued on the international markets.
