Bulgarian authorities take steps to provide helicopters for emergency medical aid

Bulgaria's Minister of Health Kostadin Angelov has presented to Prime Minister Boyko Borissov a roadmap developed by the Ministry of Health for medical air evacuation in the event of emergencies, the government press service announced.

It is planned to purchase a helicopter with European funds and repair 4 available Cougar helicopters currently owned by the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense which could be used for air rescue operations.

Bulgaria is currently the only country in the EU that does not have a medical helicopter, Free Europe reported.
