Sofia and The Hague ratify new agreement against double taxation

The Bulgarian Parliament has ratified the Agreement between Bulgaria and the Netherlands on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of deviations and circumvention of taxation, BTA reported.

Until now, there was an active agreement to avoid double taxation adopted in 1990, but intensive economic relations and increased movement of services, people and capital between the two countries require an update of the legal framework, the ratification arguments say.

According to national statistics, the Kingdom of the Netherlands is the largest foreign investor in Bulgaria. Between 1990 and 2020, the Netherlands received € 8.6 billion, or 18% of all foreign investment in Bulgaria.
