Three outbreaks of bird flu identified in Bulgaria

In just a few days, three outbreaks of bird flu have been discovered in the Pleven region (Central Northern Bulgaria), which necessitated the killing of nearly 300,000 poultry. One outbreak was registered on a poultry farm with 100,000 hens and the other two on duck farms.

According to experts, the problematic poultry farms have no connection with each other, which means that the source of infection is wild birds. Due to the three outbreaks of the highly pathogenic strain in birds, the Bulgarian Agency for Food Safety invites all hunters and citizens who have noticed dead birds in the wild to report them to the relevant authorities.
