The projects “Medea” and “I see through music” are among the laureates of the European Citizen’s Prize 2020. The European Parliament awards the European Citizen’s Prize every year to projects and initiatives that facilitate cross-border cooperation or promote mutual understanding within the EU, as well to projects involving long-term, cross-border and trans-national cultural cooperation contributing to the strengthening of a European spirit. The prize has symbolic value and is intended to acknowledge the work of those who through their day-to-day activities promote European values, announced the press office of the EP.
Bulgarian actress Snezhina Petrova launched the theatre and social project Medea. It aims to integrate children from different ethnic groups. It concerns tolerance and the European values. The project was part of the programme of “Plovdiv-European Capital of Culture”. It culminated in an eponymous theatrical performance directed by Desislava Shapatova.
The other project “I see through music” by the Music for Bulgaria Foundation is aimed at developing music education and culture and providing innovative opportunities to disadvantaged people who want to deal with this type of art.
All 30 European laureates from 25 countries will be invited to attend the award ceremony in Brussels or Strasbourg scheduled for November 21, 2021.
