Six Bulgarian polar researchers from the 29th Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition headed to the icy continent from the port of Punta Arenas in Chile, reported BTA. The head of the Bulgarian expedition Professor Hristo Pimpirev announced that all members of the expedition are in good health condition and tested negative for Covid-19 twice.

The group is expected to reach Livingston Island by February 25. The expedition has the task to check the tide gauge data and data on the state of the environment and the seismic activities. The measuring devices will be prepared for the next polar season. At the end of March, the Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition will sail to South America onboard a Chilean ship. It is expected to return to Bulgaria at the beginning of April.
