“For the first time Bulgarian State Railways rolling stock is to be funded by the EU under the Recovery and Resilience Facility,” stated Transport Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov in an online discussion on the prospects of railway transport in Bulgaria. The aim is, by 2024, to replace 50% of the railways’ rolling stock, which includes locomotives and carriages, he added.
“In 2024 we shall have a railway highway ready in the section from the border with Serbia to the border with Turkey, as well as in the Plovdiv-Burgas section,” Minister Zhelyazkov added, as quoted by BGNES.
