A new municipality will be created on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast. 75% of the residents of the town of Obzor and the neighboring villages Priseltsi, Panitsovo, Koznitsa, Emona, Banya and Rakovskovo voted at the local referendum on the separation of Obzor from the Municipality of Nesebar. 73% of the people who cast their ballots voted in favor of Obzor’s separation from Nesebar. A total of 1,193 people voted in favor and 404 residents voted against, reported BTA.
The District Governor of Burgas should submit a report to this country’s Council of Ministers on the results of the local referendum. Later, Bulgaria’s cabinet and this country’s President have to approve Obzor’s application to become a separate municipality. According to the Administrative and Territorial Structure of the Republic of Bulgaria Act, each municipality must consist of at least 6,000 residents.
