Bulgaria’s authorities discuss measures to support tourism amidst Covid-19 pandemic

Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov ordered this country’s Minister of Health Professor Kostadin Angelov to started discussing the rules that will apply to the foreign tourists wishing to enter Bulgaria. This was announced at today’s sitting between Premier Borissov and the National Operational Headquarters. “We must send a clear message to Bulgaria’s tourism sector how tourists will be able to enter the country-with PCR, without PCR, with rapid antigen tests, “green pass” vaccine certificate, etc, contended Premier Borissov. 

Bulgaria reports 2,403 new cases of Covid-19 out of 14,563 tests performed

2,403 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Bulgaria in the past 24 hours out of 14, 563 tests performed, indicate data of the Single Coronavirus Information Portal. 16.5% of the tests have returned positive result.The highest number of new coronavirus infections was reported in Sofia-737, followed by Plovdiv-187 and Pleven-129. 83 patients with Covid-19 have died in the past 24 hours, bringing the total Covid-19 death toll to 10,391. There are 33,227 active cases of coronavirus infection at present. There are 5,009 people in hospital, as 423 of them are in intensive care units. 20,233 vaccines have been administered in Bulgaria in the past 24 hours.41, 525 people have received their second dose of Covid-19 vaccine since the beginning of the vaccination campaign in this country.

Bulgarian hospitals cope with increase of Covid-19 hospitalizations

Bulgaria’s health system is prepared to cope with the increased number of Covid-19 cases caused by the spread of the British coronavirus variant in Bulgaria.This was announced by the National Operational Headquarters at a consultation meeting hosted by  Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov. More than 2,000 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Bulgaria for the second consecutive day. The number of patients with coronavirius infection in Bulgarian hospitals has exceeded 5,000 for the first time in 2021. The Bulgarian hospitals are expanding the capacity of their Covid-19 units to prepare for a further increase in the number of Covid-19 cases. More vaccines are expected in Bulgaria on March 8 or 9 at the earliest.

Badminton player Mariya Mitsova withdraws from Swiss Open

Bulgaria’s badminton player Mariya Mitsova withdrew from the Swiss Open 2021 after an entourage member tested positive for Covid-19, announced the Badminton World Federation (BWF), quoted by BNR’s Horizont channel. Mistova was placed under quarantine in the official hotel. Gabriela Stoeva, Stefani Stoeva and Linda Zetchiri will represent Bulgaria at the tournament in Basel with a total prize fund of USD 130,000.
