The Bobov Dol coal-fired thermal power plant in southwestern Bulgaria is causing serious damage to the environment. This is written in the conclusions in the report "The Dirty Legacy of Coal", prepared by Greenpeace - Bulgaria, the non-governmental organization announced.

The conclusions in the report reveal that the waste streams from the Bobov Dol TPP seriously pollute the waters of the Razmetanitsa River, a tributary of the German River, which flows into the Struma River, and from there the polluted water reaches the Aegean Sea. Thus, the pollution crosses the borders of Bulgaria, the organization points out and insists that the violations be investigated and sanctioned.
