Government approves national migration strategy

The government has approved a national migration strategy for the 2021-2025 period. The strategy is in conformity with Bulgaria’s commitments resulting from the country's membership of the EU, BTA reports.

The strategic objectives set out include: creating sustainable legal avenues for legal migration in accordance with the EU legal framework and with a view to attracting highly-qualified citizens from third countries to the EU; fair and efficient asylum procedures; support for effective integration policies; an effective repatriation policy and a coordinated approach within the EU for the repatriation of third-country nationals.
