North Macedonia's progress towards EU membership is a strategic goal for Bulgaria. Its implementation depends on the political will of our southwestern neighbour to meet the criteria and to respect the rights of citizens with Bulgarian national identity. This was stated by Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev after a discussion on the Sofia - Skopje relations , BTA reported.

The role of states and public-service media is key to creating a new bilateral climate. We expect Skopje to create all the necessary conditions for free economic, cultural, media and information exchange. Bulgaria should insist on guarantees for achieving sustainable and irreversible results in the implementation of the good neighbourliness agreement, Radev urged.
