Theatre stages in Bulgaria will remain closed on World Theatre Day for second time

March 27 is designated as World Theatre Day and it has been observed since 1962 at the initiative of the International Theatre Institute (ITI).

"For the second time on March 27, our stages will remain dark and our foyers without the inspiring noise of our numerous spectators," said Marius Donkin, director of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, in an address on the occasion of the holiday.

"This time there may be no brilliance and captivating joy in our words dedicated to this day, but more than ever there is hope in them. Among the many things that this period of trial has made even more discernible is our inseparability with what we love and what connects us - the art of theatre. Our parting with the audience is just an intermission long, Donkin said.
