"We must welcome the great activity of Bulgarian citizens around the world," Stefan Manov, a member of the CEC's Public Council, has told BNR. He said the election was likely to show a historic high of voter turnout abroad.

"I expect serious surprises. For the first time, the votes from abroad will play a decisive role in the entry of one or two forces into parliament," Manov added. According to him, the democratic contribution of the diaspora is extremely important for the "vitality of a slightly hesitant democracy like ours."
