GERB have filed a lawsuit over texts of the Electoral Code, leader of the GERB-SDS parliamentary group, Desislava Atanasova, said at a briefing in parliament.

Without a public discussion, the adopted Electoral Code threatens the right of Bulgarian citizens to vote, Atanasova said. According to GERB, machine voting was a forced modernization that grossly violated the Constitution.

"The voting principle has been violated. This is disrespectful to the Bulgarian voters. I don't trust this software. I do not believe that it is better than what used to be done in the sectional Election Commissions," one of the petitioners, MP Radomir Cholakov said.

The three new political formations in parliament: "There Is Such a People", "Democratic Bulgaria" and "Stand Up! Thugs, Out" said they were not worried about GERB's appeal to the Constitutional Court over some of the amendments to the Electoral Code. The co-chairman of "Democratic Bulgaria" Hristo Ivanov said that in the next parliament some of the adopted amendments wouldhave to be corrected, as they were taken too quickly. According to Arman Babikyan of "Stand Up, Thugs Out", the new rules would not hinder the voters, BNR reporter Maria Fileva informed.
