All of the 15 nominations for members of the new Central Election Commission meet the legal requirements, President Rumen Radev stated after the public hearing of the candidates.

The President urged them to begin preparations for the early parliamentary elections which will take place on 11 July. “I will issue a decree within the deadline set with one specific feature – it has to happen parallel with the announcement of the caretaker government,” he added.

On her part, Kamelia Neykova (ITN - There Is Such a People), appointed chair of the Central Election Commission stated she hoped the parties and coalitions would not make the Commission hostage to their disputes. Even though she said she was a supporter of machine voting she conceded the possibility of voting using paper ballots wherever unforeseen circumstances may occur.
