Bulgaria's caretaker Prime Minister Stefan Yanev was among the wiretapped politicians. This was stated to Nova TV by Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov. The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office has ordered an investigation into allegations of wiretapping politicians. The National Bureau for Control of the Special Surveillance Means must carry out the inspection.

Before the Horizon channel of the Bulgarian National Radio, Rashkov commented that he was surprised that the prosecutor's office had assigned the inspection to the National Bureau for Control of Special Surveillance Means. Rashkov, who was the first head of the Bureau, recalled that these inspections are usually carried out only when signals are received, when there are self-referrals and based on documents forwarded by other institutions.
