A pilgrimage for the victims of the April Uprising will be held on May 22, at 11 am in the Boaza locality near the village of Kravenik in the Sevlievo region. A spectacular historical re-enactment will be held to commemorate the battles of 145 years ago when Bulgarian rose in rebellion to fight for their liberation from the Ottoman Rule.

The uprising in the Balkan Mountain was declared on May 1, 1876 on Baban peak. Along with their husbands, women also took part in the battles. The ten-day battles in the mountain passes ended with the bloody defeat of the Balkan Republic in Batoshevo, Kravenik and Novo Selo. The last battle which ended with defeat was held under Maragidik peak.
