The archaeological summer in the ancient city of Heraclea Sintica near the town Petrich (Southwestern Bulgaria) will open on June 1 and will continue for four months. The work of archaeologists during these excavations will focus on uncovering the western end of the forum.

For the first time, part of the acropolis located on the Kozhuh hill will be studied. It is also planned to preserve the artefacts and constructions, which are revealed on the spot, said the head of the excavations, Dr. Ludmil Vagalinski.

A BGN 400,000 targeted subsidy has been granted by the Council of Ministers for the research.
