“Minister of Culture Prof. Velislav Minekov should fight for more money and start holding meetings with the heads of theatres so the problems can be overcome,” actor Hristo Mutafchiev, chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Actors stated, commenting on Minister Minekov’s statement that non-profitable enterprises in the theatrical circles ought to be closed down.

“Theatres will always be in debt, knowing the situation we have been living in these past 2 years. The system is underfunded,” Hristo Mutafchiev said in an interview for Nova TV, and denied there was any politics in his position. He added that he cannot stop actors who have decided to launch a petition calling for the resignation of the minister of culture.
