New sculptures and graphics made by 15 leading Romanian artists, who lecture at the Bucharest National University of Arts (UNArte), are displayed at the Boris Georgiev City Art Gallery in Varna until June 15. Ovidiu Croitoru is a curator of the project, Last year he presented in Bulgaria’s marine capital his retrospective works of the past 20 years in a solo exhibition. Recently, Ovidiu Croitoru was appointed as head of the Graphics Department at UNArte. Ovidiu Croitoru is highly motivated to further develop the university’s international activities. The current exhibition is the result of the international cooperation between the Department of Visual Arts at the Constantine of Preslav University of Shumen, headed by Professor Valeri Cholakov, and UNArte-Bucharest.
Ovidiu Croitoru defines the exhibition as compact and the works of art- very different and filled with depth. “We are happy to be in Varna after such a long time, in which the coronavirus pandemic kept us away from art lovers”, said Ovidiu Croitoru. Professor Valeri Cholakov admits that all lecturers have been facing very serious challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic. Maintaining the mobility of artistic practices was among the biggest challenge. The lecturers also made great efforts to ensure live video communication. In these troubled times, when the artistic and the academic community are experiencing difficulties, exhibitions like the current one keep us confident that we are building bridges through art, contend Professor Cholakov and Ovidiu Croitoru. The exhibition features works of Carmen Apetrei, Eugen Gustea, Stela Lie, Anca Boeriu, Oana Bordeanu, Medeleanu Constantin, Ovidiu Croitoru, Giulia Gretulescu, Daniela Vasiliu, Cristian Tardel, Felicia Ionescu, Andrei Ciubotaru, Anca Coller, Elena Dumitrescu and Mihai Rusen.
