Sofia Pride – the march in support of the LGBTI community (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or intersex) - is taking place in the capital of Bulgaria today.
The Pride has been organized in Sofia every year since 2008. After taking place online last year by way of an exception, this year the organizers are inviting all residents and guests to Sofia to join it in person. Bulgaria is one of the six EU countries with no legal recognition for same-sex couples.
As usual a counter-march will be taking place organized by the nationalist party VMRO.
