Minister of Economy in the caretaker government Kiril Petkov stated, in an interview for bTV, that he will approach the prosecutor’s office over dam repairs with financing from the State Consolidation Company.

“That is corruption”,  he said, adding that the State Consolidation Company and the Bulgarian Development Bank, which handed out almost 1 billion Leva in credits to eight private companies, are linked. The State Consolidation Company received 500 million Leva from the state budget, but also took 130 million Leva from the Bulgarian Development Bank to pump money into dam repair.

Minister Petkov stated that he had asked to see the 10 dams already repaired, and that the priority dam among them was to be found some 30 kms. from the town of Lovech – in the middle of a field, without any town or village nearby and without any water. On the spot he saw a bizarre contraption – a soft drink bottle connected to the power supply measuring the water level.
