Bulgaria’s Health Ministry continues to inspect hospitals

Following reports of drastic violations, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Health will continue to inspect large hospitals in poor financial condition, this country’s caretaker Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Dimitar Petrov said for the BNR. The Lozenets hospital was accused of syphoning off money from the National Health Insurance Fund and of illegal organ transplants. 

Inspections are underway in Pirogov Emergency Hospital and Alexandrovska University Hospital on suspicions of money laundering via clinical pathways and other violations. According to Depury Minister Petrov, people who were afraid to speak in the past are now beginning to report violations.
