54% of Bulgarian citizens support the introduction of the euro. However, 66% of them believe that Bulgaria is not yet ready for the transition to the EU's single currency. This is shown by the results of a Eurobarometer survey published today, BNR correspondent in Brussels Angelina Piskova reported.

The authorities in Sofia anticipate the introduction of the euro in the country in early 2024. 77% of respondents fear that if the euro replaces the Bulgarian lev, there will be an artificial increase in prices. However, 83% of respondents say they will be able to adapt to the European currency.
