Berkovitsa Municipality to organize mass ascent of Kom peak on July 17

For the fifth year, the Municipality of Berkovitsa will organize a mass ascent of Mount Kom in the Balkan Mountains on July 17 (Saturday). The occasion is the 171st anniversary of the birth of the patriarch of Bulgarian literature Ivan Vazov (July 9, 1850). The meeting point will be in front of the new Kom hut at 9:00 am, and the start of the hike is announced at 9:15 am, BNR Vidin reports.
The famous Bulgarian writer Ivan Vazov lived in Berkovitsa as he defined this period as one of the most fruitful in his career. He also wrote a poem dedicated to Mount Kom.
