The specialized prosecutor’s office is investigating GERB MP Luchezar Ivanov for money laundering, the prosecutor’s office stated in answer to a question by Sega newspaper.

The investigation, launched over a probe by the Anti-Corruption Committee, concerns profits made by Ivanov from the sale of shares worth USD 1.6 million. Talking to another newspaper, 24 Chasa, Luchezar Ivanov stated that he was not worried by the investigation and that he had not been engaged in any illegal activity. In his words the shares he sold were acquired as a result of consultancy services for an American pharmaceutical company.  Instead of payment in foreign currency he received shares from the company.
