The second round of consultations between Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and parties represented in parliament has taken place before handing the second mandate for forming a government.
At a meeting with representatives of Democratic Bulgaria, the Bulgarian President said that the second force in parliament - GERB-SDS, had confirmed its firm intention to return the second exploratory mandate, while the stakes for the third mandate were growing.
"Democratic Bulgaria" will not support a government with a mandate for BSP, parliamentary group chairman Hristo Ivanov said after the meeting. He also pointed out that a third mandate should be realized without GERB and MRF. According to Ivanov, a cabinet should be formed before the winter without famous political figures but with clear tasks - judicial reform and cleansing the country of corruption.
"The country needs a regular cabinet," MRF leader Mustafa Karadayi said during his party’s meeting with the President. However, he added that the party would not provide unconditional support. The conditions remain the same as before - restoring normal political relations and democracy, which could not be done using unconstitutional instruments. Karadayi has told reporters that a regular cabinet was needed and did not answer a question whether the MRF would support a cabinet of experts, but said he wanted to see what the dialogue and compromises between parties would produce.
The last meeting of the consultations was with "Stand up BG! We are Coming!" The leader of the parliamentary group, Maya Manolova, said they would insist for a government without the participation of party members but including ministers from the caretaker cabinet. The group will work for a budget update amid the new Covid wave, for stopping migrant pressures and securing a stable government, although this could happen by the spring of next year.
After today's consultations, the leader of "There is Such a People" Slavi Trifonov wrote on Facebook that his party with its 65 MPs was already in opposition, while the other parties with a total of175 MPs were already in power.
