The refugee centers in Bulgaria have the capacity to accomodate up to 5,160 people. Currently, 1,364 people are accommodated at these centers, which is 26% of their total capacity, the director of the Military Ramp Refugee Center Plamen Penov told Radio Sofia. 629 refugees are accommodated in refugee centers in Bulgaria’s capital, which is 31% of their total capacity.
"We cannot compare the situation with 2015 and 2016, when our refugee centers were full", Plamen Penov said further. In his words, the State Agency for Refugees has developed a plan to address a possible migratory pressure. The refugee centers will be able to accomodate and extra 1,000 people. The necessary equipment and consumables are provided for the purpose. The refugees accommodated in the refugee centers can leave them between 6:00 am and 22:00 pm during the summer.
