New Covid-19 cases surge to 1,891

The number of newly registered Covid-19 cases in the country has surged to 1,891 out of 29,529 tests performed in the past 24 hours, a positivity rate of 6.5%, Single Coronavirus Information Portal data show. The highest number of daily infections is in Sofia – 349, in Plovdiv – 259 and in Varna and Veliko Turnovo – 117.

2,702 coronavirus patients are being treated in hospital, 223 of them in intensive care. The number of deaths has also spiked – 57, the number of recoveries is 626. The active cases are now 22,386.

9,883 doses of vaccine against Covid-19 have been administered over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of vaccinations to 2,228,826.

1,119,571 is the number of people now fully vaccinated in the country.
