Private companies organizing disinfection and sanitary control at two Bulgaria-Turkey border checkpoints earned tens of millions of Euros. This became clear at today's meeting of the National Assembly Ad Hoc Revision Committee for Establishment of Misuses and Violations in the Spending of Finds by the Council of Ministers, Ministries, State Authorities, State and Municipal Enterprises, Companies with More than 50% State and Municipal Share and Local Authorities in the Last 5 Years, informed the reporter of the BNR Rumiana Vasileva.

During the sitting, the ad hoc committee heard representatives of this country’s government following an alert regarding violations during a plant health control at Kapitan Andreevo and Lesovo border crossings.

There is no information on how the contracts for disinfection of the border crossings were signed and whether a public procurement procedure was organized. The Anti-Corruption Fund contends that since 2013, a private company has been disinfecting the vehicles entering Bulgaria from Turkey and has been collecting fees in contravention of national laws.
