Farmers’ protest blocks Sofia-Varna road for one hour

Hundreds of Bulgarian farmers blocked for nearly one hour the main road Sofia-Varna near the town of Veliko Tarnovo. They burned wool, poured half a ton of milk on the road and covered the road with fruit and vegetables. They insisted that during the amendment of the state budget at least EUR 35 million be earmarked to help farmers overcome the consequences of Covid-19 pandemic.

According to protesting farmers, mass bankruptcies are expected in the sector, if they do not receive this assistance, because the agriculture sector does not rely on financial support under other financial instruments, informed the reporter of the Bulgarian National Radio Zdravka Maslyankova.
