The fire that broke out yesterday in the emblematic Dome building downtown Blagoevgrad was started deliberately, the Spokesperson of the District Prosecutor’s Office Blagoevgrad Borislav Kovachki told the Bulgarian National Radio.

A forty-three-year-old man from the town of Dupnitsa was detained for 72 hours. The alleged arsonist visited a local piano bar. He was asked to leave, but later returned with a bottle full of gasoline. He set the bottle on fire inside the electric panel, Borislav Kovachki said. The arsonist was arrested at Kalotina border checkpoint.

The fire damaged night clubs, shops, offices and a banking unit.
