The prosecutors’ college of the Supreme Judicial Council has started the hearings, in alphabetical order, of the candidates for European delegated prosecutors.
Out of the 21 candidates 6 prosecutors will be selected to fill in the vacancies for Bulgaria at the European Public Prosecutor's Office, EPP. This partial second procedure is being launched after the EPP college approved the nominations of only 4 Bulgarian magistrates. The remaining candidates dropped out either because of insufficient experience or because they were examining magistrates or judges instead of prosecutors. The final vote at the Bulgarian college will be on 10 September.
The candidates approved will again have to be coordinated with the European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi.
