After a two-year pause due to the pandemic, “Theatre in front of the theatre”, the biggest outdoor event by the Ivan Vazov National National Theatre is back under the open skies.
As the new season is about to open the national theatre will mark 100 years since the death of its patron, writer Ivan Vazov, with a string of events. The programme includes plays from the theatre’s repertoire as well as visiting plays. The highlight will be on 22 September – the day of Ivan Vazov’s death – when the award ceremony will take place of the annual prize for spiritual contribution, established by the national theatre and named after the poet and novelist. On this day the public will be able to watch the open dress rehearsal of the premiere show for the theatre – “Vazov’s people” – with the participation of the Plovdiv opera and renowned Bulgarian violinist Svetlin Rusev.
