The representatives of the Bulgarian Socialist Party in the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament were the only ones who voted against a resolution calling for a new EU strategy to promote democracy in Russia. All other Bulgarian MEPs voted in favor.

The document reads that the European Union must pushback against aggressive policies while laying the groundwork for cooperation with a future democratic Russia. The text further states that the European Union needs to cut its dependence on Russian gas, oil and other raw materials, at least while President Putin is in power.
