Clashes with police erupted during a protest in Aytos over an accident in which a truck crashed into a car, killing a father and two children and injuring a 17-year-old boy.

Tensions escalated as a march of more than 1,000 protesters marched to one of the city's exits and uniformed men tried to stop it. After brief clashes, accompanied by chanting "Eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth", "Mafia", "RIA, Wake Up", the police cordon was broken and people reached the sign limiting the speed to 50 km per hour. There were also calls for life imprisonment of the driver who caused the accident.
