“The gradual increase in the number of new Covids-19 cases in the country is not worrying, as yet,” said Minister of Education Nikolai Denkov, and added that he was monitoring the epidemic effect after the start of the school year. In his words the percentage of school teachers and children under quarantine in the country remains low. There are three regions with a higher percentage, where there are individual schools which have shifted online – Veliko Turnovo, Kyustendil and Shumen.

As of 20 September (the school year starts in Bulgaria on 15 September), 0.44% of pupils and 0.71% of teachers were under quarantine. At this time 32% of all teachers are vaccinated, and 2.3% of all pupils.
