Ombudsman Diana Kovacheva: Every Bulgarian school must have access to a psychologist

According to Bulgaria’s Ombudsman Diana Kovacheva, each Bulgarian school must have access to a psychologist. Psychological support for first graders is increasingly needed after last year’s distance learning. Ombudsman Kovacheva has received signals from parents who claim that their children have srarted to show aggression and feel irritable. The request for a psychologist in every school has already been addressed to Bulgaria’s caretaker Minister of Education and Science Nikolay Denkov, said Ombudsman Diana Kovacheva:

Parents say that children feel demotivated and depressed by the fact that they are isolated and communicate only through their computer or phone screen.

According to a report by "Monitor” information agency, in the 2020/2021 school year, a total of 612 psychologists worked in all 2,359 schools in Bulgaria,
