Unloading of “Vera Su” ship to resume on Monday at the earliest

There are two scenarios for evacuation of the crew of "Vera Su" ship which ran aground near Kamen Bryag, said Darin Dimitrov, Chief of the Regional Department of Fire Safety in Dobrich. The crew will be evacuated from the vessel via an already built rescue net and railings, or via the trolley method. The captain of the ship has not expressed willingness to evacuate his crew.

The weather in the area is expected to improve on Monday or Tuesday. Then, the dangerous cargo (nitrogen fertilizer) can be unloaded from the ship. Later, an attempt to pull the “Vera Su” vessel off the cliffs can be made. Other vessels will be used again for transshipment. A rescue operation from the shore is absolutely impossible, said Vice Admiral Rumen Nikolov, Chief of Defense of Bulgaria.
