Residents of the village of Miryantsi, Pazardzhik district, took to the streets demanding that a sand and gravel quarry near the village be closed down. According to the village residents, the excavation works have led to soil displacement and cracks in their houses.

Residents of neighboring villages also joined the protest. Concessionaire Angel Kanchev contends that his business is legal. A detailed inspection has not found any violations either.
