The captain and assistant captain of the Vera Su ship which got stranded on Bulgaria's Black Sea Coast, have been charged with causing significant damage to another's property and endangering the lives of others. The penalty for this is from 5 to 15 years in prison. The charges against the captain and the assistant captain who was on duty on the night of the incident may change during the investigation, said Dobrich District Prosecutor Radoslav Buhchev.

Due to the bad weather conditions near Yayla nature reserve where the ship was stranded, the rescue operation has been suspended. The vessel remains without crew onboard, but is solidly fortified, the Ministry of Transport assures.
If the weather improves, the rescue operation can be resumed on October 10.
