A minority elects new members of the Supreme Judicial Council

Only one-fifth of eligible judges participate in the election of two new members of the Judicial Board of Bulgaria's Supreme Judicial Council. This happens less than a year before the end of the mandate of the SJC and after the resignations of the judges coordinators of the heavily criticized project for a new court order.

The Union of Judges has already sharply criticized the institution, urging judges not to legitimize it by participating in the General Assembly.
Meanwhile, the Civil Movement "BOEC" came out with a position that this pre-determined election prepares the ground for the upcoming election of chairman of the Supreme Court of Cassation. The organization emphasizes that the current composition of the SJC has no moral right to elect anyone anymore and must resign.
