Ivaylo Hristov's film "Fear" (Strah) is the Bulgarian choice for participation in the Academy Awards in 2022. This is a story about an unemployed teacher in a village close to the border, through which many refugees pass. She provides shelter to a refugee from Africa and the whole village turns against the two of them.
"Fear" was chosen by a jury chaired by movie critic Prof. Bozhidar Manov.
The movie competed with three more titles: "February" by Kamen Kalev, "Women Do Cry" by Vessela Kazakova and Mina Mileva and "Zasukan sviat" by Marius Kurkinski.
According to Prof. Manov, "Fear" goes to the United States with the confidence of its creators, a ton of domestic and foreign awards and hopes to impress American movie experts who have seen many films over the years.
