80% Bulgarians do not know what the country’s position on the Green Deal is: survey

80% of people in Bulgaria do not know what Bulgaria’s position on the Green Deal is, and 83% - what the EU’s aims are in gradually making the economy independent of coal as a source of energy, a survey by Trend research centre shows.  68% of the respondents describe climate change as a real threat, and 62% say combatting climate change should be a priority for the EU.

This shows that there is no sustained scepticism in the country regarding the green transition, sociologist Dimitar Ganev says. The survey also demonstrates what people are worried about most when it comes to the Green Deal – the financial consequences, closure of businesses, loss of jobs or retraining.
