Representatives of Bulgaria’s business and trade unions negotiated with this country‘s caretaker Premier Stefan Yanev financial compensations for the high electricity prices. A total of 600,000 companies are expected to receive financial assistance. The compensations will be calculated in the October electricity bills in the beginning of November.
The meeting took place amid protests organized by trade unions and employers' organizations, whose representatives entered the Council of Ministers building to sumbit a package of measures. "The price shock will cost us EUR 1.5 billion and will lead to an economic collapse", the President of the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association Vasil Velev warned. “Those who are unwilling or cannot pay two or three times higher bills are protesting now”, Vasil Velev added.
