Bulgaria's Central Election Commission (CEC) has unanimously decided to lift the immunity from prosecution of presidential candidate Boyan Rasate so he could be brought as a defendant, CEC deputy chairperson Rositsa Mateva told BNR.

Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev has asked the CEC to lift Rasate's immunity from prosecution over the October 30 attack on the Rainbow Hub LGBT centre in Sofia.

A statement from the prosecutor's office reads that Rasate will be held criminally liable for "indecent acts and gross violation of public order and disrespect for society with extreme audacity."
