During the ceremony, President Rumen Radev pointed out that the incident with the "Vera Su" ship has put all responsible structures and the whole country to the test. The head of state pointed out the efforts, high professionalism and dedication of the participants in the complex operation, who worked in a race against time and in difficult meteorological and organizational conditions.

According to President Radev, the case revealed "the severe consequences of many years of neglecting the sphere of maritime rescue." On the other hand, according to the head of state, the rescue operation has also shown that "Bulgaria has people it can count on even in the most difficult situations."
