The 14-day mortality rate from Covid-19 has reached a record high since the start of the epidemic in this country, with 28.5 deaths per 100,000 residents registered as of 7 November, show data of the National Centre for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases.
26 out of all 28 regions of Bulgaria are in the dark-red zone for Covid-19, with over 500 cases per 100,000 residents. Smolyan and Kurdzhali have now entered the dark-red zone as well.
Mathematician Prof. Ognyan Kunchev stated, in an interview for Nova TV, that the surge in the death rate is understandable and made a comparison with 2020 when, over one month after 25 October when the anti-epidemic measures were tightened, the mortality rate continued to climb.
